The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which set up its India operations nearly three years ago, has now formed a new world region ‘RICS South Asia’ as it looks to strengthen its presence in the Asian subcontinent.

Realty consultant CB Richard Ellis India said on Wednesday, July 20, leasing activities for office spaces in major cities during April-June period has increased by over 33% to eight million sq ft compared to the previous quarter.
It’s not just the residential real estate market in Mumbai that is going through a slump, the commercial office segment, too, is reeling under a slowdown.
CB Richard Ellis Group Inc., the commercial real estate services company has reported first quarter 2011 revenues of $1.2 billion compared with $1.0 billion in the year-earlier quarter, reflecting an increase of 16%.
Demand for residential development will continue to remain unabated, but the requirement of real estate by retail industry over the next five years and even thereafter will provide a major thrust to the property market in India, said CB Richard Ellis’ global president Robert E Sulentic.
