Mumbai estate agent blinded after acid attack

The incident happened on Monday, June 18.

Verma, 47, says he was called to a place on the pretext of striking a business deal on Monday evening while returning home but was kidnapped by five people. He says the kidnappers beat him up and acid was thrown into his eyes.

He also says the documents he was carrying were stolen from him, along with his mobile phone and ring.

Verma was left on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, where he was found today morning. In his statement to the police, he alleges the attack was carried out by three builders.

Verma has been admitted to a hospital in suburban Borivali. It is suspected a property dispute was behind the attack.
