He brings with him over 16 years of corporate finance and consulting experience across a wide range of industries.

Prior to his position as National Head of Investment Advisory at DTZ, and overall in-charge of their Mumbai operations, Ambar Maheshwari – a highly respected figure on the Indian Real estate financing landscape – held key positions in companies such as KPMG, Ambit Corporate Finance Pte. Ltd. and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd.

In his new position at Jones Lang LaSalle India, Ambar will be instrumental in offering real estate services related to finance, lease accounting, tax advisory, transaction structuring, advisory on joint ventures and advisory on capital raising to help corporates make best possible decisions to optimize their real estate transaction economics. He will employ his expertise in the Corporate Finance function and leverage Jones Lang LaSalle’s robust international platform across 60 countries to advise corporates regarding their real estate related financing needs.

“We are currently at a decisive phase in terms of Indian Real Estate Finance and capital markets, and this is the right time to take the scope of development funding to a higher level,” states Maheshwari. “So far, the corporate finance sector has been largely unorganized for real estate. Investors have not had too many good experiences and need to be convinced once more about the India real estate story.

“This is definitely the right time to make that pitch. The first wave of private equity capital, which saw its culmination in 2010, generally does not do well, “ he clarifies. “The second wave tends to hit a more matured market, and to find greater traction. Globally, real estate is the largest asset class, but in India it is still at a nascent stage. Nevertheless, it is now larger and more profitable than ever before – and I look forward to catching the incoming second wave of capital inflows from the globally vigorous JLL platform.”

Anuj Puri, Chairman & Country Head, Jones Lang LaSalle India, says, “Ambar Maheshwari is an extremely valuable addition to the Jones Lang LaSalle India team. The current market challenges leave no room for guesswork when it comes to Real Estate related funding and finances for Corporates. Ambar’s field-proven expertise and professionalism in this arena will give us a critical edge, and further underscore the excellence in services that our clients expect from our firm. I enthusiastically welcome him on board.”
